Samuel Eto’o, president of the Cameroon Football Federation, expressed his anger at the level of his country’s players against Burundi, despite the 1-0 win away from the ground in the match that was held between them Thursday evening at the National Stadium, as part of the matches of the second round of the third group of qualifiers. Qualification for the African Nations Côte d’Ivoire 2023.
Samuel Eto’o did not like the position of the team in Burundi, sending a message to them in the locker room: “Whoever wants to wear this shirt must do his work, otherwise they will not come.”
Samuel Eto’o’s message carried a direct threat to exclude any player from the Cameroon national team if he failed to provide distinguished levels with the team.
Karl Toko Ekambi scored from a direct foul in the 30th minute, to lead Cameroon in Group C with three points.
The Cameroonian national team did not play the first match against Kenya after the International Football Association sanctioned it. Cameroon won its first three points in the group which also includes Namibia.
While the Kenya national team was excluded from the group by a decision of the Confederation of African Football “K”, is an extension of the decision of the International Federation “FIFA” to punish the Kenyan Football Association by exclusion due to political interference.
