 The International Federation of Professional Footballers (FIFPro), announced today, Tuesday, that the first two deaths among Ukrainian football players, due to the war waged by Russia since last Thursday, were recorded.

FIFPro issued an official statement, saying: “Our thoughts are with the families, friends and fellow young Ukrainian footballers Vitaly Sapelo (21 years old) and Dmytro Martinenko (25 years old), the first football loss reported in this war, and I hope they both rest in peace. “.

Reports indicated that Sabelo was a tank commander and died in battle with Russian forces while defending Kyiv.

Ukrainian media reported what the Ukrainian Football Association announced on its Facebook page about Martinenko’s death, and stated that he and his mother died after a bomb fell on their house.

The International and European Football Associations announced that the Russian teams were banned from competitions at the club and team level until further notice.
