Strong skirmishes erupted between the players of Atletico Madrid and Manchester City after the end of the match, in a goalless draw, and the latter qualified for the semi-finals of the Champions League, which brought them together on Wednesday evening, at the “Wanda Metropolitano” stadium, in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals for the current season 2021-2022.
Manchester City had won the first leg match with a difficult 1-0 victory, scored by Belgian star Kevin De Bruyne, in the confrontation that took place last week at Al-Ittihad Stadium in the Champions League quarter-final first leg.
The tunnel leading to the dressing rooms witnessed unsportsmanlike behavior on the part of some players on both sides, after the atmosphere tense in the last minutes of the match after Luis Felipe, defender of Al-Rouki Blancos, was expelled after his violent intervention on Phil Foden, the City player.
The police forces present inside the stadium intervened to break up the skirmishes between the players of the two teams after the end of the match.
Manchester City will face Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals, after beating Chelsea 5-4 in the total of the two legs.
