The countdown has begun with the final preparations for the draw for the group stage of the Champions League for the new season 2022-2023, which will be held at 6 pm today, Thursday, in the Turkish city of Istanbul.

The official account of the European Champions League published a video of the final preparations for the draw, where the names of the teams began to be found in the containers designated for them, commenting: “Everything is ready in Istanbul.”

The contract of the qualifications for the group stage of the Champions League for the new season was completed, yesterday, Wednesday, before the draw was held on Thursday evening.

The 32 clubs qualified for the group stage will be divided into 8 groups, each comprising 4 teams, after dividing them into 4 levels so that the group includes a team from each level.

In accordance with the rules of the Champions League, clubs from the same country will be separated from each other in the group stage draw.

As usual, the first and second-place winners from each group will qualify for the playoffs, with the third-ranked player moving to the European League, while the bottom of the standings will be eliminated from the continental competitions.

After completing the contract for the qualifiers to the Round of 16, the draw for this round will be held on November 7, then the quarter-final draws on March 17, 2023.

The draw for the quarter-finals of the Champions League will include determining the semi-final track, so there will be no draw for the semi-finals.

According to what was issued by the European Union “UEFA”, the group stage is scheduled to start next September 6, with the round of 16 competitions to be held on February 14, 2023, then the quarter-finals on April 11, and the semi-finals on May 9.

The first round of the Champions League group stage will take place on 6 and 7 September, the second on 13 and 14 of the same month, while the third, fourth, and fifth rounds will take place on 4, 5, 11, 12, 25 and 26 October, and finally the sixth round on 1 and 2 November.

The first leg of the round of 16 of the European Champions League will be held on the 14th, 15th, 21st, and 22nd of February, and the second leg on the 7th, 8th, 14th, and 15th of March.

In April, the first leg of the quarter-finals will be held on 11 and 12, and the second leg on 18 and 19, with the semi-final first leg being held on May 9 and 10, and the return leg on May 16 and 17, while the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul will host the final on June 10, 2023.

It is worth noting that Real Madrid won the Champions League last season 2021-2022.
