The latest Chromecast device from Google, called Google Chromecast with Google TV, got one of the major missing apps, as the company announced that it would soon introduce the Apple TV app in early 2021.
Apple has in the past reserved access to its services for its hardware ecosystem, but recently loosened its grip in an effort to grow its services business.
Google said: The application will be available on more devices running the Android TV operating system in the future.
This collaboration makes Google Chromecast with Google TV one of the only streaming devices with all major video subscriptions.
As an Apple TV + subscriber, Google said, you can listen to award-winning original shows, movies and documentaries from the world’s most creative storytellers.
This includes titles such as Ted Lasso, The Morning Show, Defending Jacob, Greyhound, and Mariah Carey’s Magical Christmas Special.
With the Apple TV app, you can access your library of movie and TV shows purchases from Apple, as well as enjoy special, curated recommendations and Apple TV channels.
With the family sharing feature, up to six family members can share channel subscriptions.
With Google TV, you will be able to watch original shows from Apple in your own recommendations and search results, making it easier for you to find your favorite shows and movies.
You will also be able to save it to your watch list to see it later.
The app works similarly to other versions of Apple’s service across other devices, allowing subscribers to watch original shows, movies, and documentaries.
In addition, the app allows Chromecast users to access the iTunes library purchased from TV shows and movies, as well as any Apple TV channels they subscribe to.
Last week, Google said that the Apple Music service would be available via Google’s smart speakers.
Last year, Apple made the Apple TV app available on Amazon’s Fire TV devices and via the Roku platform.
