A football club prevents its vaccinated players from playing

The owner of the Romanian club, Steaua Bucharest, issued a decision to prevent his players who have received the vaccine against the emerging corona virus, from playing, claiming that the vaccine makes them “weak”.

Gigi Becali, a former Romanian MP and member of the European Parliament, had acquired a controlling stake in Steaua Bucharest, the 1986 European Cup winner.

Becali expressed his belief that the players who have been vaccinated “do not have the strength”, saying that the players of the two rival clubs, “CFR Cluj” and “Rapid Bucharest”, “are struggling because most of their players are vaccinated.”

“You will laugh, but I may be right,” Becali told Romanian journalist Emmanuel Russo. “Those who have been vaccinated lose their potency. This is a scientific thing.”

He continued, “Didn’t you see it in CFR and with Rapid? .. It seemed that the players fainted. They slept on the floor. All vaccinators are losing their strength!”

He added: “I also see that the vaccinated players in my team are suffering. The vaccine does not affect some, but it affects those who are older,” according to the British newspaper, The Independent.

It is reported that about 40 percent of the Romanian population has been fully vaccinated against the emerging corona virus.

For its part, the official page of information on vaccines in Romania on Facebook published a post confirming that “there are no studies to support Becali’s claims.”

“Footballers who are vaccinated do not lose their potency after being vaccinated against Covid-19!” she added.

It continued, “The vaccination against COVID-19 does not affect the performance of football players. On the contrary, there are sufficient studies that show that infection with Corona has long-term effects, and can affect the performance of athletes.”

It concluded, “The bottom line is simple: you should stay healthy, enjoy football and look to those who trust science and medicine. Please educate yourself only from trusted official sources!”
