Samsung officially announced the latest lineup of its flagship phones during the Unpacked event, and there are two main models, the Galaxy S21 and S21 Plus, which come at $ 800 and $ 1000, respectively.
The company also announced the larger version called Galaxy S21 Ultra, which comes at a price of $ 1120.
Samsung has further darkened the line between the Galaxy S and the Galaxy Note by making its S Pen compatible with the S21 Ultra.
The experience varies somewhat, but users can use the pen to write and draw over the phone.
The stylus is sold separately and there is no place to put it inside the phone, but Samsung offers a case to carry it.
The devices also have ultra-wideband capabilities, which provide a number of possibilities, including the ability to open car doors and augmented reality messages to find lost items.
The biggest change visually is the camera unit, which has been simplified through Contour Cut, and the device has also dropped expandable memory.
The company also removed the charging adapter and headphones from the box, a move that Apple took when it removed the accessories due to what it said were environmental concerns.
In terms of hardware, the triple camera settings are similar on the S21 and S21 Plus, as you get a 12MP ultra-wide lens, a 12MP wide lens, and a 64MP telephoto lens with a 30X space zoom.
While the Ultra model features a quad rear camera with a 12MP ultra-wide lens, a wide 108MP lens, and a dual-lens system with 3x and 10x optical zoom.
This marks the first time that Samsung has introduced a dual system of close-ups, and the Ultra model also features enhanced low-light photography thanks to the Bright Night sensor.
Imaging software updates include the ability to pull still images from 8K shooting, improved image stabilization, and new modes, such as Vlogger view, which shoot from the front and back cameras simultaneously.
The screens measure 6.1, 6.7, and 6.8 inches, and all feature a 120Hz refresh rate that adapts to use.
The phones also get a new Eye Comfort Shield, which reduces blue light as the day goes on.
The company has equipped all three phones in the US with the Snapdragon 888 processor.
The Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21 Plus both start with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, while the Galaxy S21 Ultra starts at 12GB and 256GB, with 4,000, 4800, and 5,000mAh batteries, respectively.
