Royole plans to launch foldable FlexPai 2 globally soon

Last September, Royole launched its second foldable smartphone, called FlexPai 2, in China, with a starting price of 988 yuan, or approximately 1,471 US dollars.

The Chinese company was the first to launch a foldable screen smartphone in the market, the Royole FlexPai, and it preceded both Samsung and Huawei.

Last March, the company promised to improve the idea with the new FlexPai 2, which is similar to the company’s first Flexpai phone in terms of shape, but comes with an improved joint and screen, and contains the third generation of the Cicada Wing flexible screen.

The phone comes with a thickness of 6.3 mm when the screen is opened, and a thickness of 12.8 mm when folded, and Royole claims that the new joint called Super Seamless & Stepless Hinge specifically designed for it does not include a gap, it is resistant to corrosion, is mechanically durable, and does not contain gaps that allow dust to enter the device and affect the The durability of the phone.

The phone screen comes in 7.8 inches, with a resolution of 1920 x 1440 pixels. The phone includes an eight-core processor (Snapdragon 865), random access memory (RAM) size of 8 GB, or 12 GB, internal storage capacity of 256 GB, or 512 GB, a battery with a capacity of 4,450 mAh, and support for networks of the fifth generation.

The phone offers four 64-megapixel rear cameras for the main, 16-megapixel per second for ultra-wide photography, 8-megapixel for the third, and 32-megapixel for the fourth.

Now, a Royole representative has been quoted that the company is pleased with FlexPai 2’s performance in China so far, but has not disclosed the sales data. Noting that the phone is about $ 500 cheaper compared to Samsung’s Galaxy Fold 2.

Royole also says it plans to announce the global availability of the phone early next year.
