Twitter decided to remove the blue verification mark for the account of the Algerian star, Riyad Mahrez, the winger of the English club Manchester City.

Mahrez published a tweet through his account, which has become unverified, on Monday, in which he addressed the American businessman Elon Musk, who recently bought the micro-blogging site in a $44 billion acquisition deal.

Mehrez said, in his tweet, “My brother Elon Musk, prepare my blue mark for me,” accompanied by funny expressions.

The Twitter administration did not announce the reason for the disappearance of the Mahrez account verification mark, while some suggested that this happened days after the Algerian star re-published a tweet talking about the replay of the match between Algeria and Cameroon in the World Cup qualifiers.

The de-authentication of Mahrez’s account has raised questions from many football fans, as the Manchester City player’s account has more than 3 million followers.
