The company (Oppo) today, Tuesday, held its annual Oppo Inno Day in its second edition, an event in which the Chinese company unveils products in a conceptual way, and it may be launched later as products available to the general public.
During the Oppo Inno Day 2020 event, Oppo focused on unveiling a smartphone with a expandable screen, in addition to new glasses that support augmented reality technology.
The company explained that its Oppo X 2021 concept phone is the result of its research and development of flexible screens. The phone uses in its regular form a 6.7-inch rectangular OLED screen, but after expansion, its shape becomes square and similar to tablet computers, measuring 7.4 inches.
Oppo says it has developed the phone’s powertrain, structural plate and screen protector to ensure the device’s durability.
It is reported that Oppo is not the first to unveil a phone with a stretchable screen, as TCL announced last year a similar prototype, however, the TCL phone was not working, as the screen was a paper. As for Oppo, it is one of the leading companies in the smart phone industry, and it has previously launched smartphones with designs of engines, such as: the Oppo Find X phone.
In addition to the Oppo X 2021 concept phone, Oppo revealed the augmented reality glasses Oppo AR Glass 2021, which is the latest step from the Chinese company in the field of wearable devices supporting augmented reality technology.
Oppo says: The glasses are 75 percent lighter than previous glasses, which the company unveiled last year as a visualization at the Oppo Inno Day 2019 event. The new glasses use lenses with a 0.71-inch OLED screen.
The glasses include two cameras that support fish-eye technology to support gesture recognition, in addition to a depth sensor, and a traditional RGB camera.
Oppo AR Glass 2021 can be linked directly to Find X2 Pro via a USB-C port, in order to take advantage of the phone’s processing power.
