Mohamed Salah wins his fifth title with Liverpool


Egyptian star Mohamed Salah crowned his fifth title with the Liverpool team, after winning the English League Cup at the expense of his counterpart Chelsea on penalties 11-10, after the end of the original and extra time with a goalless draw, in the final match that brought them together at Wembley Stadium.

Mohamed Salah added the English League Cup title to 4 other titles he won with Liverpool, which are the 2018-2019 Champions League, the 2019-20 Premier League, the European Super Cup and the Club World Cup in 2019.

Mohamed Salah joined the Liverpool team in the summer of 2017, from the Italian team Roma, in a deal that cost the Reds treasury 42 million euros.

The two teams exchanged attacks in the ninety minutes of the match, but they failed to find the net, so the match went to the extra time, which was dominated by a negative tie as well, to resort to penalty kicks, which witnessed a marathon that ended with the replacement goalkeeper Kepa wasting the last kick.

Joel Matip scored a goal for Liverpool, but the referee canceled it after referring to the video technology, in the 67th minute of the match for offside and a foul on Virgil van Dijk.

Romelu Lukaku also scored a goal for the Blues in the 98th minute of the match, but it was also canceled due to offside, the same with Haveritz’s goal in the 110th minute of the match.

Senegalese Sadio Mane missed a sure chance to score in the 30th minute of the match, which was saved by his compatriot Mendy with great skill.

Mason Mount missed a goal for Chelsea after hitting the ball into the Liverpool post in the 49th minute of the match.

Led by German coach Klopp, Liverpool won the ninth title to be the most English club to win the title, surpassing Manchester City, the runner-up, with 8 titles.
