French star Karim Benzema is only two goals away from reaching the 40th goal this season with Real Madrid in all competitions for the first time in his career, as only 4 stars have previously achieved this.
Karim Benzema is preparing to lead Real Madrid against Seville next Sunday evening, in the 32nd round of the La Liga competition for the current season.
In the event of two goals scored, Karim Benzema will become only the fifth player to achieve this in Real Madrid’s history after Ronaldo (8), Hugo Sanchez (2), Di Stefano and Puskas, once each.
Benzema had an injury in the last minutes of the Chelsea match last Tuesday evening, in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final, but the Spanish newspaper “Marca” reported that Benzema is good and will participate during the Seville match, as he felt tired during the extra time against Chelsea, but he managed to score winning goal.
It indicated that Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti had not decided to start the match against Seville, but the Frenchman will certainly participate in the strong confrontation with his opponent.
It is noteworthy that Benzema scored 3 goals during the first leg against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, and scored the qualifying goal for Meringue in the return leg at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Real Madrid is at the top of the Spanish league standings this season with 72 points, a full 12 points behind its closest runner-up, Seville.
