The Tunisian African club will be a heavy guest for Esperance in the upcoming derby, which will be held at 6 pm today, Sunday, at the Olympic Stadium Hamadi Al-Aqrabi, as part of the eighth round of the coronation phase of the Tunisian League competition for the current season 2021-2022.

The Esperance team, led by its new coach, Nabil Maaloul, enters tonight’s match, ranking first in the group standings with 17 points, as it seeks to win in order to enhance its lead and increase its chances of winning the Tunisian League title this season.

Tonight’s match will witness the first appearance of the Esperance team after the appointment of Nabil Maaloul as the team’s new technical director to succeed Radi Jaidi, who was sacked against the background of the decline in results and the disappointing exit from the cup championship.

This season, Esperance was left with nothing but the competition for the Tunisian League title, after it was bid farewell to the Tunisian Cup from the final price round against a second-class team.

On the other hand, the African team occupies third place in the table of the coronation group in the Tunisian League this season with 13 points, 4 points behind the leaders Esperance and two points from the runner-up Union Monastir.

It is scheduled to run the capital derby between Esperance Sportive and Club Africain, referee Haitham Kirat, and Amir Al-Wasif will be a referee for the video.

At the same time, Sfaxien will be a heavy guest against its counterpart, Ittihad Ben Guerdane, in the confrontation hosted by the “March 7” stadium.

For his part,  Nabil Maaloul  , the new coach of the Tunisian Esperance team, confirmed that he accepted the task without thinking, and that he is happy to return again to confirm that such positions cannot be abandoned.

Nabil Maaloul explained: “I am looking forward to winning the Tunisian League championship, and we will work to compete until the last breath of the title.”

Nabil Maaloul stressed: “Esperance is home, the agreement stipulates the training of the team until June 2024 and I accepted the task from now without waiting for the start of the next season, and our goal is to win the championship and then think about new contracts, next season and in the African Champions League.”

Nabil Maaloul continued, “The Esperance fans have the right to demand the African Champions League. We all hope to return the treble, and we will try to achieve this, because the club and its fans’ destiny is to compete for titles and win them.”
