- The defender signs with the Galician club until 2026 and Barca also reserves 50 percent of a future sale
Òscar Mingueza, a 23-year-old defender who has spent his entire sports career at FC Barcelona, is now officially an RC Celta player. Right-handed center back who can also play on the side, on Monday night he landed in Vigo and this morning he passed the medical check-up before signing a contract until 2026.
There is no economic amount involved. The Barça club reserves a percentage of 50 percent of a future sale and a repurchase option, while the sky-blue entity obviously takes charge of its file.
Mingueza made his debut in the Barca first team in the 2020-21 season under Ronald Koeman and became a regular in the line-ups, but with the arrival of Xavi Hernández during the 2021-22 campaign he lost prominence. The Egarense coach met with him at the end of last season to clarify that he did not have him and the player made the decision professionally.
He has played 66 official matches with Barca (46 in the League, 12 in the Champions League and Europa League and 8 in the Spanish Cup and Super Cup), scoring two goals, one against Real Madrid at the Alfredo Di Stéfano. He also gave five assists and won a Copa del Rey at the La Cartuja stadium in Seville in the 2020-21 season against Athletic.
