French club Marseille announced, on Tuesday evening, that it had reached an agreement with veteran Chilean star Alexis Sanchez, to sign him during the current summer transfers in a free transfer deal, after the player terminated his contract with Inter Milan by mutual consent.

Marseille club issued an official statement on its website, in which it stated, “A preliminary agreement to transfer Alexis Sanchez to Marseille FC.”

The statement added, “The Chilean international player, who participated in 143 international matches and won 17 titles in his career, will sign his contracts to join the team in the next few hours, provided that he passes the medical tests.”

The Italian club, Inter Milan, had earlier announced the termination of the contract with Alexis Sanchez, after 3 years he spent in the Nerazzurri, and he won the Italian League title, the Italian Cup, and the Super Cup.

“Inter Milan announces that it has reached an agreement to terminate the contract of Chilean striker Alexis Sanchez by mutual consent,” Inter said on their official website.

He added, “The club would like to thank Alexis for the three seasons he spent in the Nerazzurri, which culminated in winning three titles and wish him success for the rest of his career.”

Having arrived in 2019 from Manchester United, Sanchez has never been able to achieve continuity at Inter Milan, with little impact compared to his potential.

According to Italian reports, his agent agreed to terminate the contract early by mutual consent in exchange for 4.5 million euros in compensation for the termination of service, and he may move to Olympique Marseille as a free player.
