Press reports revealed the desire of Barcelona club management to sign a new striker, during the current summer Mercato, as part of a plan to support the team’s ranks this season.

The Spanish newspaper “Sport” reported that Barcelona will go to Mercato in recent days to sign a new striker, in the event of the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Memphis Depay, as Aubameyang is expected to move to Chelsea, while Depay may sign with Juventus.

The report stated that the trend within Barcelona is now to collect available offers, but the decision to sign a new striker may also be postponed to the winter Mercato.

Reports also indicated that the names currently on the Barcelona table are: Andrea Belotti, Edinson Cavani, and Adnan Januzaj, all of whom are not linked to any club.
In a separate context, the Polish star Robert Lewandowski, a Barcelona striker, scored a special number in his team’s 4-1 victory over Real Sociedad.
Barcelona defeated Real Sociedad 4-1 at the “Anoeta” stadium, in the second round of the La Liga competition, and Robert Lewandowski scored two goals in the 1st and 66th minutes of the match.

Opta Statistics Network said, last night, Lewandowski became the first player to score a double on his 34th birthday since Obafemi Martins on October 28, 2012, with Levante (28 years).
