Medical examinations confirmed that Argentine star Angel Di Maria suffered a left thigh injury and may have to watch a number of Juventus matches from outside the stadium.
Massimiliano Allegri called up the 34-year-old Argentine winger about an hour before his Serie A debut on Monday night after he made a powerful transformation in front of his new fans.
Di Maria scored a goal and provided an assist in the 3-0 win over Sassuolo, but now he has to wait to participate again.
Medical examinations carried out by Juventus confirmed that Di Maria had suffered a low-grade injury to the adductor humerus in his left thigh, which Sky Sports Italia suggests could put him out of action for up to a month. The Bianconeri will reassess his condition within 10 days, but there is no guarantee that he will recover by then.
If Di Maria is injured for a month, he will have to miss Juventus’ matches with Sampdoria (August 22), Roma (August 27), Spezia (August 31), Fiorentina (September 3), and Salernitana (September 11).
Juventus are hopeful that Di Maria’s next set of medical tests will show signs of improvement, especially with new teammate Paul Pogba unavailable.
