Leeds United beat Chelsea, 2-0, in the first half of the match that brought them together this evening, Sunday, in the third round of the Premier League, at the “Island Road” stadium.

Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling missed the opportunity to score the first goal for the Blues against Leeds United in the first minute, after evading the defense of the hosts, and shooting next to the post.

In the 15th minute, Sterling scored the first goal for Chelsea against Leeds, but it was canceled due to offside.

The Leeds United goalkeeper saved his team’s goal from a confirmed goal in favor of Chelsea, after blocking Mason Mount’s shot in the 22nd minute.

Chelsea goalkeeper Edward Mendy made a fatal mistake that cost the Blues the first goal in favor of Leeds, with Brendan Aaronson’s feet in the 33rd minute.

In the 37th minute, Rodrigo Moreno scored the second goal for Leeds United, in the net against Chelsea, from a strong header to the left of Mendy.

Chelsea started the Leeds match with a formation consisting of:

  • Goalkeeper: Mindy
  • Defenders: James, Silva, Coulibaly, Kokoria
  • Midfield: Gallagher, Jorginho, Loftus – Cech
  • Attack: Mount, Sterling, Haveritz

Chelsea started its campaign in the Premier League this season, by defeating Everton with a clear goal, in the first round of the tournament, then tied with Tottenham 2-2 in the London derby in the second round.

Chelsea occupies eighth place in the Premier League standings this season, with 4 points, while Leeds United comes in seventh place with 7 points, with a goal difference.
