Paris Saint-Germain ended the first half of the match, leading with a clean double that came through Fialo Sakho’s own goal and Neymar from a penalty kick in the 39th and 43rd minutes, and Kylian Mbappe missed a penalty kick in the 23rd minute.
In the second half, the Parisian team added a hat-trick through Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, and newcomer Renato Sanchez in the 51st, 69th, and 88th minutes of the match, while Montpellier scored the double of Tunisian Wahbi Khazri and Enzo Chato in the 58th and second minutes of time instead of the match lost.
Paris Saint-Germain opened the season with a broad victory over Clermont, by five goals, in the first round.
