Real Madrid beat its host Osasuna 3-1 in the match that was held between them on Wednesday evening at the “El Sadar” stadium, in the 33rd round of La Liga competition for the current season 2021-2022.

Real Madrid’s goals were scored by David Alaba, Marco Asensio and Lucas Vazquez in the 12th, 45th, and 96th minutes, respectively, while Osasuna’s only goal was scored by Ante Bodemir in the 14th minute of the match.

French star Karim Benzema led Real Madrid’s attack in tonight’s match, alongside Rodrygo and Marco Asensio, while Brazilian star Vinicius Junior sits on the bench.

Benzema missed the match after he failed to score two penalties during the match in the 52nd and 58th minutes, respectively.

According to the global network “Opta” which specialized in football numbers and statistics, Karim Benzema is the first player to miss two penalties in a La Liga match since Raul Tamudo against Betis in April 2006.

The Frenchman is also the Real Madrid player who has missed the most penalty kicks in his La Liga season since at least 2005/06 “4-11”.

With this result, Real Madrid continued to lead La Liga standings with 78 points, collected from wins in 24 games, a draw in 6, and losing 3 matches, scoring 68 goals and receiving 29.

While Osasuna was in the ninth place in La Liga standings with 44 points, collected from winning 12 matches, drawing 8, losing 13 matches, scoring 34 goals, and receiving 43.

Real Madrid started the match with the following formation:

Goalkeeper: Courtois.

Defense: Vazquez, Alaba, Militao, Nacho.

Midfield: Ceballos, Valverde, Camavinga.

Forwards: Benzema, Rodrygo, Asensio.

Real Madrid won an exciting 3-2 victory over Seville and grabbed 3 precious points, enhancing its lead in the Spanish League with 75 points, and bringing it closer to the La Liga title this season.

Real also eliminated its rival Chelsea from the Champions League quarter-finals, after winning it 5-4 on aggregate, then qualified for the semi-finals and set a date with Manchester City.

Real Madrid is missing a number of its most prominent players against Osasuna in today’s match, led by Brazilian Casemiro, who suffers from a muscle injury, in addition to Mariano Diaz and Luka Jovic.
