Italian club Inter Milan announced today, Saturday, the renewal of the contract of the captain of the team, Slovenian goalkeeper Samir Handanovic, for one year, to continue until the end of the 2022-2023 season.
For his part, Handanovic spoke to the club’s official website after renewing his contract, saying, “Ten years ago, I joined a big club and I’m still in a big team.”
“I am very happy and proud to be a captain and a player at Inter because this is a continuous privilege. Those who play for Inter always have a lot of desire, here we play to win trophies,” he added.
The veteran Slovenian goalkeeper joined the Nerazzurri in the summer of 2012, coming from the Udinese team, in a deal worth 15 million euros.
Handanovic, 37, played 438 games for Inter Milan in various competitions, conceding 451 goals and leaving 161 clean sheets.
The Nerazzurri had included during the current summer Mercato Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana from the Dutch team Ajax in a 5-year deal.
