This month, Microsoft launched The 87th edition of Edge, which includes many new features, including Smart Copy, which relies on Artificial Intelligence technologies, and allows you to copy and paste content in its original format.
This means that the browser will by default paste the web page address as a Hyperlink instead of pasting a normal URL without a format.
Here’s how to disable the new feature to copy and paste the URL in Edge browser:
On the other hand, depending on what you do, this feature may be useful, especially if you are sending an email that you want to format well using hyperlinks, this may save some time, and this feature will make it easier to copy tables in documents and emails, so that if you copy a table from a website and paste it into an e-mail message using the smart copy feature, the labeled table will keep its original format.
It’s also possible to continue to paste the URL as plain text if you’re using the Command (Ctrl+Shift+V), but there are a lot of times you just want to get a URL without having to remember to hold down an extra button, plus there are a lot of web pages with very long, messy URLs that you might want to edit first.
So to disable this feature and return to copy URLs and paste them naturally in edge browser follow the following steps:
- Open edge browser in your computer.
- Press the three dots at the top right of the screen.
- From the menu that appears to you, click on settings.
- Click on the Share, copy, and paste option on the right side of the new window that shows you.
- On the left of the screen, select the default option you want: Link to paste the URL as a hyperlink, or Plain text to paste the URL as a web address.
Note: Remember to apply this command to all accounts you use in Edge if there are different accounts set up for personal and business use.
It is worth mentioning that Microsoft has focused in recent months heavily on the development of the new Edge browser by supporting it with many features and improving it, and this seems to be coming to fruition, as the user base of the browser has become growing very rapidly, which brought him very close to the third-placed Firefox browser in the classification of web browsers, and is expected to surpass it by next year 2021, which will be a major advance for Microsoft in the web browser market.
