The spending of Premier League clubs to sign new players during the current summer transfer market is close to exceeding the 2 billion euro mark.
And the statistics published by the global “Transfer Market” network revealed that the Premier League broke the record registered in its name, with a few days remaining until the end of the current summer Mercato.
The network added that the Premier League clubs spent 1.72 billion euros in the current transfer period on 107 new signings this summer, exceeding the record set in the major European leagues in 2017, with the Premier League spending 1.62 billion euros on the addition of 140 new players.
Serie A is ranked second in the list of leagues that spend the most money on players in the current summer Mercato, with a value of 681 million euros, followed by the Bundesliga, with a spending volume of 474 million euros.
While La Liga came fourth on the list, spending 431 million euros, Ligue 1 came in fifth and last, with a spending value of 420 million euros.
The summer Mercato began last July in the major leagues in the old continent, and many clubs spent huge funds to contract stars of high caliber to strengthen their ranks in the new football season 2022-2023.
