- For the dispute of the last qualifying matches for the Qatar World Cup
- Pezzella and Guido Rodríguez are shortlisted by Argentina and Luis Enrique also included some Real Betis players in the Spanish shortlist
|Claudio Bravo leaves with the Chilean national team|
Betis players Clauido Bravo (Chile), William Carvalho (Portugal) and Diego Lainez (Mexico) have already been called up by their respective national teams for the final qualifying matches for the Qatar 2022 World Cup that will start next November. Saved this time with Mexico due to injury, the Argentines Germán Pezzella and Guido Rodríguez are pre-called by Lionel Scaloni with Argentina, although the final list has yet to be made public; and Nabil Fekir is once again left out of Didier Deschamps’ plans for the French team.
At Real Betis they are also awaiting Luis Enrique’s call-up for the Spanish team, as there are several pre-called Betis players, waiting for the Asturian to make the list official for the friendlies against Albania and Iceland on March 26 and 29 in Barcelona and A Coruña, respectively.
William Carvalho’s Portugal team is playing for qualification for the World Cup in the play-off: they must beat Turkey on March 24 in Porto and then on the 29th the winner of Italy-Macedonia, also in Porto.
Diego Lainez’s Mexican team is third in the CONCACAF octagonal -three are classified directly-, with 21 points, the same as the USA, which they receive on March 25 in a key match. Then he visits the bottom side Honduras (27M) and ends the octagonal -which leads Canada with 25 points- receiving El Salvador on 31M. Mexico has the pass in its hand, but it is not yet a mathematician.
Argentina still has to play Venezuela and Ecuador on March 25 and 29, although classification is already assured, quite the opposite of Chile, which faces Brazil and Uruguay (March 24 and 29), with the urgent need to win both games, which does not even ensure direct classification.
