The Iraqi national team achieved a valuable victory over its UAE counterpart with a clean goal, in the confrontation that took place between them this evening, Thursday, at King Fahd International Stadium, as part of the ninth round of the Asian qualifiers qualifying for the World Cup “Qatar 2022”, to ignite the Arab conflict over qualifying for the annex.
Hussein Ali Al-Saidi scored the winning goal for the Iraqi team in the 53rd minute of the match, with a great individual effort after evading the goalkeeper and firing it into the net.
With this result, the UAE team occupies third place in the table of the first group standings with 9 points, one point behind the fourth Iraq team with 8 points, and the last confrontation in the groups remains the decisive factor in qualifying one of the Arab teams for the annex.
The tenth round of group competitions will be held on March 29, when the UAE will meet South Korea at Al Maktoum Stadium in Dubai, and Syria with Iraq at Rashid Stadium in Dubai.
In the same group, the South Korean team defeated its Iranian counterpart by a clean two, and the Syrian team defeated its Lebanese counterpart by three clean points.
It is noteworthy that the last confrontation that took place between the two teams last October ended in a positive 2-2 draw in Dubai.
