The fans of the Democratic Republic of the Congo rioted after the national team drew 1-1 with its Moroccan guest, in the match that was held this evening, Friday, at the “Al-Shuhada” stadium in Kinshasa, in the first leg of the playoff round of the qualifying round for the World Cup Qatar 2022, and Morocco will host a match Return next Tuesday.
The Moroccan “Al-Boula” website stated that the match between the “Atlantic Lions” and its host, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, witnessed riots on the part of the fans of the owners of the land, after the final whistle, explaining that the Congolese fans attacked Morocco’s supporters, along with the technical staff and journalists, by throwing stones and bottles at them.
The website added that many journalists were stuck in the corridor leading to the dressing rooms, explaining that some of the Congolese fans tried to storm the gate.
Morocco surpassed the group stage, topping its ninth group with 18 points, a vast difference from second-placed Guinea-Bissau, with 6 points, Guinea (3rd with 4 points), and Sudan (fourth with 3 points).
The return match between the two sides is scheduled to take place at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca, Morocco, on March 29.
