The International Football Association “FIFA” announced, on Thursday evening, that the opening date of the World Cup, which will be held in Qatar, at the end of this year, by one day.

The opening match of the World Cup was expected to take place on the twenty-first of next November, but the date will become the twentieth of the same month.

Following the adoption of the change, the opening day will witness a match between the host country of the World Cup, Qatar, with Ecuador.

The decision on the scheduling of these matches is made by the Bureau of the FIFA Council, whose members include Gianni Infantino, as well as the presidents of six of the continental football associations.

In recent years, it was customary for the national team hosting the World Cup to play the first match of the tournament, but the World Cup schedule in Qatar did not go according to this direction at first, so it was expected that the third match would be played on a busy day in which four matches will be held.
