Egypt defeats Senegal

 Egypt beat Senegal 1-0 in the match that brought them together this evening, Friday, at Cairo International Stadium, in the first leg of the decisive round of qualifying for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Senegal defender Salio Cissé scored Egypt’s goal by mistake in his team’s goal in the fourth minute, after Mohamed Salah’s ball hit the Senegalese player’s foot and hit the net against Senegal goalkeeper Mendy.

The return match in Dakar on March 29 will decide the qualifiers for the next World Cup in Qatar.

The formation of the Egyptian national team for tonight’s match included: Mohamed El-Shennawy, Ahmed Fattouh, Mohamed Abdel Moneim, Mahmoud Hamdi El Wensh, Omar Jaber, Amr El-Sulayya, Hamdi Fathi, Mohamed Elneny, Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet, Mohamed Salah, and Mostafa Mohamed.

The Senegal squad included: Edouard Mendy – Kalidou Coulibaly – Abdou Diallo – Bona Sarr – Salio Sis – Idrissa Gaye – Nambalis Mendy – Shekho Kouyaté – Ismaila Sarr – Famara Diedho and Sadio Mane.

First half

A strong start on the part of the Egyptian team, who pressed since the start of the whistle in search of a quick goal, and the Egyptian team pressed through Trezeguet, Salah, and Mustafa Mohamed.

The Egyptian attack resulted in a goal scored by Senegalese defender Salio Cissé in the fourth minute after Mohamed Salah’s ball hit the Senegalese player’s foot into the net against Senegal goalkeeper Mendy.

After the goal, the Egyptian team continued to put pressure on Senegalese teams to enter the atmosphere of the match, and Abdo Diallo, Senegal’s player, was injured and left the field and participated in his place, Babu Cissé.

Mohamed Abdel Moneim fell on the field after a strong clash with Sadio Mane, and blood flowed from Abdel Moneim’s face before he was rescued on the field and returned to participate in the meeting.

The Egyptian team dominated the midfield area and our players exchanged the ball well. Salah and Trezeguet led more than one attack. Mahmoud Hamdi Al-Wansh received a yellow card for roughness, and the Senegal team clearly activated and pressed Al-Shennawy’s goal.

Sadio Mane launched a quick attack and hit a powerful ball, but it passed over the crossbar, and Mohamed Abdel Moneim was forced to leave the field as a result of his feeling of “dizziness” since his clash with Mane, and Yasser Ibrahim participated in his place in the 39th minute.

The last minutes of the first half witnessed enthusiasm from both teams, but this half ended with the progress of the Egyptian team with a clear goal.

Second half

An enthusiastic start from the Senegal team, who went to the field at the beginning of this half offensively, looking for a draw, while the performance of the Egyptian team declined, and Mohamed El-Shennawy saved a dangerous opportunity for the visitors, and Omar Jaber was injured as a result of a strong clash with Sadio Mane.

Sadio Mane led a dangerous attack and penetrated the defense of our national team in the 53rd minute, but Omar Jaber excelled and intervened at the right time and turned the ball into a corner kick.

Senegal continued to put pressure on El-Shennawy’s goal thanks to Sadio Mane’s dangerous kicks, and Hamdi Fathi was injured after a strong clash with one of the Senegalese players, and the Congolese referee refused to show the Senegal player the yellow card.

Mostafa Mohamed hit a powerful ball from a “wonderful scissor”, but it hit Trezeguet’s body instead of entering the guest net, and Omar Marmoush participated in place of Mostafa Mohamed in the 72nd minute.

The match ignited in the last minutes and Trezeguet received a yellow card for the roughness. The guests continued to put pressure on El-Shennawy’s goal and the latter saved a dangerous opportunity for Senegal. El-Shennawy was injured, but he received treatment and continued participating in the match.

Omar Marmoush hit a strong ball next to the post in centimeters, and the Senegal team regained control of the match in the last minutes, and Nabil Dunga participated instead of Trezeguet in the second minute of stoppage time, and then the match ended with Egypt’s victory with a clear goal.
