A group of West Ham fans were attacked and one of them was taken to hospital with minor injuries this morning, Wednesday, before the second leg of the semi-finals of the European League scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, against Eintracht Frankfurt in the semi-final second leg.
Eintracht defeated West Ham in the first leg, 2-1, in the confrontation that took place last week at the Olympic Stadium in the English capital, London.
German police issued a statement saying that two pickup trucks had stopped outside a bar where West Ham fans had gathered in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
German police added that a group of 15 to 20 people, who witnesses said were Eintracht supporters because of the masks they were wearing, got out of the two trucks, entered the pub, and attacked the group of British fans, one of whom was slightly injured, then returned to the vehicles and left the scene.
The police confirmed that they were unable to locate the two vehicles, and one of them carried a local number plate, and stressed: “The injured guest, a 34-year-old Briton, was taken to a hospital for treatment.”
