The British government dealt a heavy blow to the Russian owner of Chelsea, Roman Abramovich, before the sale of the London club.

Reports said that the British government imposed harsh sanctions on Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, as it decided to freeze all his assets now, including Chelsea, which will prevent the sale of the club.

The move by the British government against Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich comes as part of its plan to punish the few Russian men of age close to Vladimir Putin, the leader of the Russian wars on Ukraine.

The British government has confirmed that Chelsea has obtained a special license to continue football-related activities, but is prevented from selling the club.

The UK government will need to grant a special exemption to sell Chelsea, and no money can go to Abramovich, directly or indirectly.

Also, no new contracts, player transfers or sales will be allowed at Chelsea following Roman Abramovich’s sanctions, no further ticket sales will take place, and only season ticket holders can attend future matches.
