- The sexual abuse for which the Celta player has been sentenced to four years in prison took place in the early hours of June 16, 2017
- The footballer was on vacation in Almería with a friend and the same night of the events he was arrested and released
The events for which Santi Mina has been tried and sentenced to four years in prison took place in the summer of 2017. Specifically, on the morning of June 16. According to the account of the events presented at the time by the Prosecutor’s Office, at 04:30 on that June 16, 2017.
The accused, at that time a Valencia player, took advantage of the fact that his friend, also a footballer David Goldar, who was a member of Nàstic de Tarragona and with whom he was enjoying the holidays in the Almeria town of Mojácar, had gone with a woman to the caravan that he had parked near a nightclub in that town so that he, too, could satisfy his “sexual appetite” despite the “manifest will to the contrary” of the alleged victim.
According to the letter from the Prosecutor’s Office, which requested eight years in prison, Santi Mina would have accessed said caravan when Goldar and the complainant were already inside. It was then that the accused allegedly told the complainant that he liked her “a lot” and that they should “do something”, to which she refused.
According to the accusation, after this first response, Mina would have left the vehicle to enter shortly after and sexually assault her. Some sources pointed out that the player would have accessed the vehicle naked and that after not being able to have sexual relations with the girl he would have touched her several times.
The account describes how he would have inserted her penis into the complainant’s mouth and later pushed her towards her bed, “inserting three fingers of his right hand into her vagina.” Both Mina and Goldar were arrested and released a few hours later.
