Knowing the number of accessories that will be compatible with the upcoming PlayStation 5 gaming platform is one of the things that users of previous models of PlayStation 5 look for, and one of the biggest questions that PlayStation 4 owners have is the compatibility of their console with the gaming platform Coming.
Sony has confirmed that the PlayStation 5 console will support PlayStation 4 compatible consoles, but only for playing PS4 games and this means that you cannot play PS5 games with the PS4 console.
Knowing that the PlayStation 5 platform is compatible with most previous versions of PS4 games, this means that if you have the standard PS5 model with a drive, you can insert your PS4 discs to play these games, and on the PS5 digital platform you can download your PS4 digital games to the new gaming console.
Additionally, this is not the only way to play PS4 games on the PS5 platform as PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to download a selection of PS4 games that can be played on the new console at no additional cost.
What other PS4 accessories will work with the PS5?
It’s not just the official DualShock 4 controller that will work with the PlayStation 5 platform as a PlayStation Blog post also says that the following PS4 accessories will work with the PS5:
Officially licensed gamepad controllers.
Specialty peripherals like officially licensed racing wheels, arcade sticks and flight sticks.
The official PlayStation Platinum and Gold wireless headphones, as well as any external headphone that uses a USB port or audio jack.
PS Move and PS VR console for virtual reality games.
PlayStation Camera (for PS4) will work with an adapter that is provided free of charge.
How are the DualSense controller items different?
While Microsoft’s Xbox Series X and Series S controllers use a nearly identical design to the Xbox One gamepad, Sony has changed the console design slightly for PlayStation 5 as the DualSense wireless controller uses a look similar to the DualShock 4 and has the same controls, but It also has some new additions, and the three biggest changes to the DualSense controller are:
– Adaptive Triggers: For PlayStation 5 games; Developers can change the amount of pressure you need to apply to the triggers (L2 and R2 buttons) to activate them in some situations.
– Haptic feedback: Instead of the basic function that simply shakes the console, haptic feedback is a more accurate way to integrate when playing, it allows the console to vibrate in specific places and at a certain intensity.
– Built-in Microphone: The DualSense Wireless Controller has a built-in microphone, as a result, you don’t need a headphone to communicate with other players.
Note: We can assume that the DualSense wireless controller will work with the PS4 games played on the PlayStation 5 console. However, it is possible that the features of the new console will not work when playing PS4 games.
It is worth noting that Sony is preparing to launch the new PlayStation 5 gaming platform for sale on November 12 in the United States, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea, and on November 19 in the rest of the world.
