- The 32-year-old Bosnian midfielder has connected with Xavi Hernández and could accept the club’s new salary conditions to be one more and not a problem
Miralem Pjanic, a 32-year-old Bosnian midfielder with a contract until 2024, would be willing to lower his salary to stay at FC Barcelona. His good connection with Xavi Hernández during the tour of the United States would be the key to the new scenario. He wants to be one more to compete with a position and not a problem. With his current salary, the Barça club would look for a way out for him, perhaps another transfer sharing the salary with his destination club, since offers in that sense are not lacking, but if he adapts to the new economic conditions of the entity and the coach has with him, everything will change.
He landed at the club in 2020 from Juventus, but after a gray first season, he was loaned out to Besiktas. Although he did not seem to have a place in the 2022-23 Barça squad, he first passed the first selection of the transferable players who stayed in Barcelona without a tour ( Umtiti, Mingueza, Braithwaite, and Riqui Puig ) and then, already in the United States, he won praise from Xavi for the good minutes played against Juve: “I liked him a lot. He found the interiors very well. He has a unique vision. He’s a great player. We’ll see from here to the end of the market. Technically he’s very good”.
Pjanic was also excited about the coach: ” Xavi has always been a model midfielder for me. I followed him with admiration. He is one of the best of all time in the world. Working with him is very special.”
