Robert Lewandowski, who has worn the number 12 shirt in the three friendly matches he has played so far as a Barca player, will wear the number 9 starting this Sunday at the Joan Gamper Trophy. His definitive number was revealed this afternoon during his presentation at the Spotify Camp Nou, in front of more than 50,000 fans who gave themselves over to the new Barca star. 

At the subsequent press conference, Joan Laporta explained that the decision for Lewandowski to wear number 9, which until now belonged to Memphis Depay, “has been a club decision, an advertising image, and we thought it was appropriate.” In this sense, Laporta went further and said that he “has been done with respect for Memphis, which has understood it perfectly,” he assured.
