Barcelona president Joan Laporta revealed a big surprise regarding the future of Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski, as the Catalan club president admitted, in a brief statement, reported by Spanish radio station Cadena Ser, that Lewandowski is on his way to Barcelona.
Laporta said to a Barcelona fan when asked about the possibility of Lewandowski: “He is likely to come to the club, it is one of the contracts that can be concluded in the summer.”
Lewandowski is in a state of glow this season, as he scored 47 goals in 41 matches with Bayern Munich in various competitions.
It is noteworthy that Lewandowski, aged 33, has been playing for Bayern since the summer of 2014 and contributed to it achieving several local continentals, and international titles, won the Golden Ball once and was the best player in the world from FIFA twice.
Barcelona will have to enter formal negotiations with the Bayern Munich administration, to persuade them to give up Lewandowski, next summer, especially since his contract is still valid.
Barcelona intends to give Lewandowski an annual salary of between 35 and 40 million euros, with a contract for two or three seasons, to persuade the player to join the Catalan club.
Lewandowski agreed to join the project of Xavi Hernandez, coach of Barcelona, and Lewandowski’s contract with Bayern Munich expires on June 30, 2023, and there is a desire by the German club to renew the contract of the Polish player.
