MLS is knocking on Riqui Puig’s door

• Los Angeles Galaxy, the most interested team in the American league, an option that is already being worked on

• Their agents await the final proposal from the Los Angeles team while they handle other parallel alternatives abroad 

Riqui Puig is still waiting to be able to resolve his future. The stage remains open, but the final outcome should not take too long. The 22-year-old footballer from Matadepera has several options on the table, the latest from the United States. Several MLS teams have asked about the situation of the cule youth squad, although the most interested club isLos Angeles Galaxy. 

The Californian team has already contacted Barca and its agents, who are analyzing the option and maturing it before officially transferring it to the player. The Los Angeles team must pass a proposal in the next few hours and is willing to offer him a three-year contract to make Riqui Puig one of the franchise players of a team that includes Chicharito Hernandez, Douglas Costa, Kevin Cabral or the cule Victor Vazquez. An option that should be resolved for better or worse in the coming days because the MLS registration period closes on August 4. 

Outside of Spain

In addition, the agency that represents Riqui Puig , owned by Arturo Canales -the same agent as Gerard Pique or Xavi Hernandez, among others- is working on another possibility parallel to that of the Galaxy, which is also abroad. 

Obviously, with all the alternatives on the table, it will be the player who will have the last word to decide where he continues his career away from Barcelona after Xavi Hernandez told him personally in May that he did not have him.

To day of today, the future of Riqui Puig points far from LaLiga. Yes, there are several teams in the Spanish championship that would be delighted to have the Catalan midfielder, but both sportingly and economically they are options that would not fit what is being sought.

Several options ruled out

Barca , for its part, has been receiving different interests from European clubs. Yes, several teams have asked, but they have been options that have not borne fruit beyond the initial contacts. Benfica, Fiorentina or Fulham are some of the examples.

At the same time, the club came to consider a possible renewal of  Riqui Puig , whose contract ends in 2023, in order to transfer him. At the moment this possibility, which has been debated among the sports leadership, has not been definitively ruled out, although it is true that it has not advanced either.
