Analyst (Ming-Chi Kuo) said that Apple will not soon launch a new iPhone SE, or possibly iPhone SE Plus, in early 2021.
The analyst – who is considered the most famous for Apple’s leaks – said that the earliest time to launch a new iPhone SE would be during the second half of next year.
Although Best Buy recently produced a screen protector for a phone called (iPhone SE Plus), Kuo had previously expected the launch of that phone, in addition to a new iPhone SE. The analyst now says that neither will be launched soon.
Although Kuo did not specify a new date or time frame, he told investors that it will not happen in the first half of 2021.
Kuo’s latest observation specifically related to the supplier Yujingguang, known as Genius Electronic Optical. He cautions against the perception that “the market overestimates revenues and gross margin” of the company.
“We believe that Genius Electronic Optical’s revenue for October will be below market consensus due to increased competition,” Kuo said. He added, “We expect this competition to intensify in 2021.”
Kuo also said: “The market expects that the first half of 2021 will witness the launch of a new iPhone SE phone that will increase the shipping momentum of Genius Electronic Optical, but we do not believe that the first half of 2021 will witness the launch of a new (iPhone SE). “.
Kuo also believes that Genius Electronic Optical won’t get as many component requests for the iPhone 13 as it did on the iPhone 12. He concluded by saying, “We estimate that its ultra-wide angle lenses will decrease from 50 percent in the (iPhone 12) series to 30 percent in the (iPhone 13) series.”
Although Kuo believes this prediction is due to increased competition from competing suppliers, there may also be a quality issue. Previously, Kuo mentioned that Genius Electronic Optical was having production control issues with the iPhone 12.
