TSMC and Apple are looking forward with big plans for the 3nm and 4nm nodes in the future as the first chips based on the 5nm process were rolled out. Reportedly, Apple has already secured a significant portion of orders for producing the 3nm chips in 2022.
Sources familiar with the matter say that the aforementioned chips obtained by Apple will likely power future iPads and MacBooks. With this we believe we will see 5nm or 5nm + chips for another year.
TSMC will likely start trial production next year, when it is almost ready for approval, but we think mass production will happen in 2022.
There are some rumors of M-series chipsets from MacBooks and iPads, so it’s possible to assume that iPhones in 2022 will likely use roughly the same technology.
